North-Antrim DUP support Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC)

The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee” which can then be ‘Pinned’ to The Queens’s Green Canopy Map.

North Antrim MP Ian Paisley was delighted to support this initiative with a project co-ordinated by Local Councillor John McAuley which provided 200 trees for North Antrim with the focus being on Local Primary Schools. This was a very significant initiative.

The William Pinkerton Memorial Primary School was selected to receive a specially commissioned ‘Ceremonial Tree’ which was planted within the school grounds on Thursday 27th January 2022 in a Ceremony to officially mark the Queen’s jubilee.

This was a very special day. It is important nationally that all parts of the Kingdom are recognised, and it is fantastic for the local schools to play a special part in representing Northern Irelands part in the Kingdom.

At the ceremonies our Local MP Ian Paisley officially planted the trees accompanied by local councillors and North Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey and special guests, providing a lasting tribute to Her Majesty in this important jubilee year.
