The MLA added:

‘Local football clubs across Northern Ireland have been patiently waiting for the delivery of funding through the Department for Communities to invest and upgrade their facilities. I have been pressing the Communities Minister for action on this matter for some time and she has finally given a commitment in a written answer to my Assembly Question that she will update the Executive ‘in the coming weeks’ on proposals for the way forward for the funding programme.

Interest in Football across Northern Ireland has never been greater with so many of all ages enjoying the sport and now is the time for delivery from the Minister to provide football clubs with the much needed funding they have waited so long for. Many clubs are run by dedicated volunteers who provide such a valuable resource within local communities, both on and off the pitch. I am aware of many local football clubs across Northern Ireland who have exciting plans for growth and development of their facilities, but they can’t proceed without this funding which will transform what they can offer within their local community.’
