Mrs Erskine said the DUP was focused on fixing the health service and delivering their positive 5-point plan for Northern Ireland.

“Our Five Point Plan for Northern Ireland recognises that General Practice is not working and needs fixed. This is not the sole away to fix the NHS but it is a significant problem. The DUP is focused on fixing the NHS.

GPs want to provide the very best service to their patients and the public want the reassurance that they will be able to see their doctor when necessary. When this isn't possible we see a domino effect, with pressures being increased in our Emergency Departments and other areas of the Health Service.

I am contacted by patients who are not being assessed in a timely manner. GP’s workload is continually expanding and there aren’t sufficient staff to run the service optimally.

That is why our Five-Point Plan for Northern Ireland focuses on training more general practitioners and on retaining those who are trained.

In this election the people of Northern Ireland have the opportunity to help us in our mission to fix the NHS and train more GPs.

Only the DUP has the plan and positive vision to ensure the people of Northern Ireland have a first-class health service.”
