02 Dec, 2024 Plan needed to address waiting times for PEG surgery - Dodds DUP Health Spokesperson Diane Dodds welcomed the Parents4Pegs group to Stormont this morning. The group are raising awareness of the waiting times for PEG insertion surgery that can only be carried out in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. A percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is a surgery to place a feeding tube. The PEG tubes allow the children in question to receive nutrition through their stomach. Currently the longest wait for this procedure is up to 150 weeks.
