The East Belfast MLA said, “This new system will make things much easier for both visitors and the Prison Service. Having a system where bookings could only be made by phone created resourcing issues and meant many families faced difficulties securing a booking and found it very frustrating.
The introduction of online booking should not only make it much easier for families to visit a relative in prison but will reduce the resource burden on the Prison Service and make it more streamlined and effective. This is a positive step forward for all concerned.”
