Mr Middleton said,
“The confirmation of £4.6m in joint funding from the Northern Ireland Executive and Government to secure the City of Derry Airport to London Heathrow route until 2027 is good news for people in the north-west. This a matter many of us have campaigned for and worked hard to ensure the merits of the case were understood in London and Belfast.
This vital link strengthens connectivity for the north-west and supports local business and tourism. A successful route and airport will also ease the burden on Council ratepayers. The DUP has long called for sustainable solutions to ensure this key facility remains viable without placing undue strain on local finances.”
