Commenting after publication of the Review the DUP MLA said,

"Sir Peter Hendy's review is a significant document and accurately highlights the importance that good transport and connectivity has on economic growth, jobs and all aspects of society. It is aimed not at being some 'top-down' approach either, but with a clear call for the Northern Ireland Executive to work collectively with the Government.

It is disappointing that Nichola Mallon has not properly acknowledged this Review, but she should now recognise the benefits of this Review and finally engage constructively with it.

Great Britain is Northern Ireland's single largest market and improvements to connectivity, particularly on the North Channel Corridor identified in the document, including routes such as the A75 in Scotland, will be of huge benefit to local businesses. However, the review also points to rail infrastructure across Northern Ireland. The Minister has often talked about the importance she places on rail travel. This review presents a clear opportunity to follow through on those words.

This review presents a hugely significant opportunity to shape our transport for the future. The Minister should move quickly to present a detailed response appropriate to the positive and constructive approach taken within the Review."
