The PSNI have confirmed that they are treating the incident as arson with intent to danger life.
Commenting, Mr Irwin said:
‘‘This was a reckless and calculated act and will be rightly condemned across the community. It is something of a miracle that nobody was at home during the attack. In a different scenario the consequences could have been fatal.
The scale of the damage - affecting eight vehicles and spreading to the adjacent house – is both shocking and sinister. There is no place in our society for such wanton acts of violence against life and property.
I would appeal to anyone with information that could assist the PSNI in bringing those responsible for planning and carrying out this crime to come forward.’’
