Mr Robinson said, “Gregory has given decades of service as an elected representative and his award of the CBE is a recognition of that service and dedication. Gregory has always been a strong voice for those most in need, and a fearless advocate for the Union.
When Gregory became an elected representative it was at a time when doing so meant not just giving up your time and effort to represent constituents, but putting yourself in the line of danger to do so. He has never been deterred from speaking up however, either during those times or today.
As leader of the DUP I am delighted that Gregory has been honoured for his service, not just to the party, but to Northern Ireland as a whole. I know how important it will have been for him to have had his family with him at Windsor Castle for the ceremony and I know how important their support has been to Gregory as he continues to represent the people of East Londonderry in Parliament.”
Gregory Campbell said, "I was deeply honoured to receive the CBE from the Princess Royal at Windsor Castle recently. To find out that over eighteen months ago my
name had been submitted for recognition was deeply humbling and a surprise.
I am delighted for my Family, my Party and the wider Unionist community whom I have had the privilege to represent for many years. I am deeply indebted to so many who have given me so much support down through the years."
