The Handbook provides an overview of the key stages of professional learning for student teachers and newly qualified teachers.
New additions in the handbook include a sample teacher tutor calendar, a comprehensive summary of the key stages of professional learning for student teachers and early career teachers, and a list of valuable publications and websites.
Welcoming the new handbook, the Minister said: “Supporting the development of the education workforce is key to meeting the educational needs of children and young people today. The 2024 edition of the Teacher Education Partnership Handbook provides guidance not only for student teachers and early career teachers, but also university tutors, teacher tutors, and all those involved in the early years of teacher professional learning.
“The Handbook demonstrates my ongoing commitment to supporting our teachers and their Professional Learning – as outlined in the ‘Learning Leaders’ Strategy – and will contribute to delivering a highly skilled, motivated and high-functioning education workforce.”
The revised handbook followed extensive collaboration and input from education partners including the Higher Education Institutions, the Education Authority, the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland, the Education and Training Inspectorate and Teacher Tutors, amongst others. It was also produced with updated terminology and design enhancements for easy navigation.
