He said,
"Throughout the election campaign people are responding to the DUP's plan to help working families. I have spoken to many people on the doorsteps over recent weeks who are supporting this call.
Working families are struggling with child care costs, energy bills and uniform costs, the DUP has a five point plan to build a better Northern Ireland and these issues are paramount to the plan.
Alongside an Energy Support Payment to help with heating bills we have proposed energy efficiency schemes to improve insulation and will work to make green energy options more affordable.
Childcare is a huge cost to many working families and we have put forward solutions to help. Our plan seeks to widen access to breakfast and homework clubs in schools to assist working parents. It also seeks to build more schools and provide more funding to schools.
The DUP pledges to deliver 30 hours of free childcare per week, and will push for fair access to preschool places; an issue that is of huge importance to parents right across Northern Ireland. A cap on school uniform costs will also be a helping hand for working families.
The DUP focused on the issues that matter to everyone, and we want to win the election to deliver for working families. Others want to use the election to press for a divisive border poll. A vote for the DUP on May 5 is a vote to build a better Northern Ireland.”
