Mr Robinson said, “Carl will bring experience and enthusiasm to our team in Ards and North Down and I look forward to him as he takes up this position.
The DUP’s goal in local government is to deliver the best services at the lowest possible cost to ratepayers. Carl will be joining a strong DUP team within North Down focused on delivering on the issues that matter to the lives of everyone living there.”
Carl McClean added “It’s a true honour to once more represent local residents and their interests as a Councillor, and I look forward to working hard on behalf of the people of Bangor West and indeed the whole Borough.
I am delighted to now be doing so as a DUP representative, it will be a pleasure to rejoin my DUP colleagues on the council and become part of such a hardworking team committed to improving our area and listening to the concerns and priorities of all those living here.
I thank my friend and colleague Peter Martin MLA for his sterling work on council, whose shoes I will make every effort to fill as he takes up his new responsibilities at Stormont.
As Bangor residents know, there is much work to be done here. We live in a wonderful place, but so many local people are calling for improvements which I will do everything I can to help implement. I look forward to dealing with casework immediately and going above and beyond for my hometown and its residents.”
