DUP call to widen access to breakfast and homework clubs: Dodds

Upper Bann DUP Assembly Candidate Diane Dodds has said that wider access to breakfast and homework clubs can help working families across Northern Ireland and keep our schools world-class. The pledge is part of the DUP's 5-point plan to build a better Northern Ireland.

She said,

"The DUP has a five-point plan to build a better Northern Ireland and key to that plan are our policies to help working families and keep our schools world-class. Whilst others want nothing more than a divisive border poll, the DUP is focused on the issues that matter to everyone.

Our plan seeks to widen access to breakfast and homework clubs in schools. These clubs not only assist working parents, but provide invaluable learning support for children. Breakfast clubs allow parents to leave children off at school before work, but the provision of a proper breakfast helps boost energy and concentration levels for children, which can have a real impact on their academic performance.

Homework clubs again provide not just a safe supervised environment for children out of school hours, but can provide additional help and support. Widening access to these clubs is a meaningful policy that will have a real impact on both parents and the children who attend them.

We want to keep our schools world-class and provide the very best start in life for our young people, equipping them for their future career and to build a better Northern Ireland."
