Dodds welcomes resolution in QUB marking and assessment boycott

DUP Education spokesperson and Upper Bann MLA Diane Dodds has welcomed the agreement reached between our Universities and Unions which will enable students to have their papers marked and classification awarded before the end of the summer.

Mrs Dodds said,

“I welcome the conclusion of this stand-off, but it is those students who faced uncertainty about their degree who will most warmly welcome the certainty it provides them. Whilst university lecturers deserve a fair pay award, the dispute was not merely disrupting students, but could have impacted their employment prospects in a competitive job market.

I made representations for some of the students who faced this uncertainty, and I am glad they will now have their classification confirmed before the end of the summer.”
