The DUP MLA said, “Thompson Aero Seating are not just a major local company, but are manufacturing products for many of the world’s leading airlines. It is hugely significant to have this facility located in Banbridge, when previously their seats were shipped overseas for testing.
Thompson have a very proud local history and this facility further embeds them into the Northern Ireland economy. The opening of the facility can also accelerate the research and development process, allowing it to take place without needing to leave the factory.
I have been delighted to work with the company over recent years, both as a constituency representative and previously as Economy Minister. Whilst the majority of the investment has been provided by Thompson’s shareholder, Invest Northern Ireland has part-funded the project.
It is a good news story for Banbridge and Upper Bann in particular. However, it will ensure that Thompson’s continues to be at the cutting-edge of this market and be an integral part of countless passenger journeys across the globe into the future.”
