The DUP representatives said.
“We are extremely concerned at the developing situation at Antrim Area Hospital, where a potential major incident was declared.
Reports suggest that 62 people in need of treatment, could not be admitted to the hospital due to a lack of beds.
This is an extremely concerning time for both patients and staff.
We have been in contact with the Northern Trust to offer our support to ensure they get the resources they need and to thank staff for their dedication in bringing the current situation under control.
They remain on high alert and the situation remains difficult.
It is incumbent upon the Department of Health to step forward immediately and provide the hospital with any and all support they need to ensure the safety of both patients and staff.”
