The 8th annual Palliative Care Week runs from 12-18 September 2021.
Joanne Bunting, who Chairs the All Party Group on Terminal Illness, said,
“Well done to all those who have made this week such as success.
Palliative care is not easy for us to talk about and one of the themes of this year was to encourage people to talk about how they have experienced palliative care in their lives. Whilst difficult to build the courage to tell ‘our story’ it is the best recognition for the dedicated palliative care workers and the best means of inspiration for greater support.
End of life care is so vital and that’s why back in April I brought a motion to the Northern Ireland Assembly seeking that the Programme for Government includes indicators around death, dying, bereavement and a good end-of-life experience.
With just a few hours left I am encouraging anyone who hasn’t been able to participate so far to get involved. Tell their story on their social media, explain the importance of Palliative Care in their lives and give recognition to the wonderful people who deliver this vital care.”
