Mr Brett has been championing the continuation of Industrial Derating and the Small Business Rates Relief Scheme.

The North Belfast DUP MLA said,

“Our plan to grow the economy builds on our strong record by making Northern Ireland a place attractive and ready for investors. Central to that plan is supporting the continued growth of our manufacturing and indigenous SME sector.

That is why securing the continuation of Industrial Derating and the Small Business Rates Relief Scheme has been a top priority.

Industrial Derating supports around 4,400 industrial properties across Northern Ireland and this assistance is currently worth over £71million. The Small Business Rate Relief Scheme also provides in the region of £20 million of assistance to 29,000 small businesses across the Northern Ireland.

I am delighted to have received confirmation that these long-term DUP policies will continue. The uncertainty around their continuation had been a major issue of concern for the business community. I am pleased there is now clarity and reassurance has been provided.

This is another example of a locally elected Assembly and Executive being able to deliver for the people who are the backbone of Northern Ireland’s economy.

The DUP is determined to continue to build an innovative, inclusive and healthy economy, which delivers opportunity for everyone in every community across Northern Ireland.”
