He said, “Attacks on any public servants are disgraceful and must be condemned. When Fire Service personnel are attacked it not only puts the lives and safety of those individuals at risk, but it endangers the service they provide. Those engaging in this are effectively attacking the entire community and putting their lives and safety at risk.
Whether it is the Police Service, Fire Service or Housing Executive who all came under attack in this latest incident, they are serving us all as a community and they deserve to carry out their job without fear of attack.
I welcome the commitment that there will continue to be a visible police presence in the area. We should be focusing on promoting the many positives of our city, not being distracted by the unacceptable actions of a small number.”
