Anti-Israeli sentiments behind calls for Clinton QUB removal: Dodds

DUP Education Spokesperson Diane Dodds has said the real motivation behind those calling for the removal of Hillary Clinton as Chancellor of Queen’s University is the fact she is a vocal supporter of the state of Israel.

“Those attacking Hillary Clinton and calling for Queen’s University to remove her as Chancellor may try to claim it’s about the specific comments she has made most recently, but the true motivation appears to be simply that she is a vocal and prominent supporter of the state of Israel.

There is no moral high ground to be found for those who have celebrated the terrorism of Hamas and their murder, torture and kidnap of innocent men, women and children. They are in no place to pass judgement on anyone else.

Ultimately, this is not about any recent comments, but is motivated by the fact that Hillary Clinton has been vocal in her support of Israel. When we hear rhetoric about Israel being an “apartheid” state it unmasks the real views of those involved.

There has been a notable silence from many quarters in response to these calls, particularly those who have been very vocal in defence of the freedom and independence of universities in the past. There should be no question of Queen’s bowing the bullying tactics of those who celebrate terrorist groups like Hamas.”
