Gregory Campbell MP stated;
“As the domestic football season draws to a conclusion, I wanted to bring forward for recognition the phenomenal achievements of Rangers and Northern Ireland player Steven Davis MBE. After an excellent season winning the Scottish Premiership at Rangers he has become the most capped UK male player in history. It is fitting that to mark an achievement such as this. I have tabled a Motion in Parliament to recognise it.
Playing 126 times for his country is a remarkable achievement, to do it at the age of 36 and still playing at a top level in Domestic, European and International football is quite something.
Not only does he rank with our greatest Northern Ireland legends like George Best, Pat Jennings and Harry Gregg, but his modesty, dedication, professionalism and skill ranks him as one of the greats in modern football. A true role model to young people everywhere not just here in Northern Ireland but to football fans everywhere. In this our Centenary year of our country it is fitting to recognise a son of such stature.”
