Mr Clarke, whose brother-in-law was murdered at Teebane, said:
“I want to see all victims of terrorism see justice done. Innocent victims of IRA terrorism however will have been shocked to hear a Sinn Fein representative call for “truth” and “justice” about an act of terrorism.
The depth of knowledge about acts of terrorism that has remained hidden within Republicanism for decades is almost unparalleled. Does Ms Brogan also call for ‘truth’ and ‘justice’ for the Enniskillen families, the La Mon families, the Teebane families or the Kingmill families?
Sinn Fein’s attempt to selectively acknowledge the horror of terrorism while excusing and celebrating the IRA’s campaign of violence is rank hypocrisy. Week in and week out Sinn Fein representatives hero-worship IRA gunmen and bombers who were killed on ‘active service’. Let us also not forget that Nicola Brogan’s colleague and leader, Michelle O’Neill, has repeatedly claimed that the IRA had “no alternative”.
Sinn Fein seems to believe that the actions of the so-called Real IRA in Omagh were somehow different from those of the Provisional IRA. They were not. The tactics were the same, the devastation was the same, and the innocent victims left behind were the same.
Those who suffered at the hands of terrorism, whether in Omagh, Enniskillen, Belfast, or Warrington, see through this double standard.
The people of Northern Ireland know the truth, and no amount of Sinn Fein revisionism will change it.”
