DUP MP Gavin Robinson has welcomed the announcement by the Infrastructure Minister that the Tillysburn Park and Ride and Sydenham Greenway plans are to be rolled out in the next financial year.
Commenting Gavin Robinson said:
“I’m delighted that the Minister has not only acknowledged the Sydenham Greenway but given commitments to delivering the first part of the cycle route during the next financial year.
This is a huge step forward for Greenway development and once
completed will provide an active travel route for cyclists and
pedestrians linking Victoria Park and the Holywood Exchange. During the
consultation process, Cllr. George Dorrian and I pushed for this
development with both Belfast City Council and Department for
Infrastructure. Just last week, we received confirmation that the
Council had submitted an application under the Blue and Green
Following a number of concerns from residents regarding the Tillysburn Park and Ride, I have actively engaged with the Department for Infrastructure to ensure an additional entrance was placed on the carriageway. I am pleased that they took this feedback on board and a further entrance will be provided on the carriageway, reducing the impact of traffic using the already congested junction.
This is wonderful news for the progression of Greenways, but also for East Belfast”
