Welcoming the correspondence, Mr Campbell said, “It is welcome that this mix up has now been resolved. It would have been ridiculous to expect voters to undertake a 12+ mile round trip to vote over 6 miles away in Ballytober.
The almost 100
residents in Portrush affected by this error have always used their
local Primary School as a Polling Station with it being just a few
minutes’ walk away from their property.
Voting is key in any
functioning democracy and should be made more accessible for electors,
not less. It is welcome that the confusion over the location of the
Polling Station for these local residents has now been resolved.”
