Portrush Polling Station Confusion Resolved- Campbell.

East Londonderry DUP candidate Gregory Campbell has welcomed confirmation by the Electoral Office that the nearly 100 residents in a small part of Portrush who previously received correspondence informing them to travel more then 12 miles round trip to a different polling station will now be contacted and informed that this was an error and that their polling station is still their local Primary School in Portrush.

Welcoming the correspondence, Mr Campbell said, “It is welcome that this mix up has now been resolved. It would have been ridiculous to expect voters to undertake a 12+ mile round trip to vote over 6 miles away in Ballytober.

The almost 100 residents in Portrush affected by this error have always used their local Primary School as a Polling Station with it being just a few minutes’ walk away from their property.

Voting is key in any functioning democracy and should be made more accessible for electors, not less. It is welcome that the confusion over the location of the Polling Station for these local residents has now been resolved.”
