He raised the issue in the House of Commons yesterday.
Speaking afterwards the DUP MP said, “These drugs are often regarded as ‘miracle cures’ for people suffering from conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis yet they are not available because they have not been approved by NICE.
I have been challenging this system for some time, and as a result of recent pressure, the pharmaceutical company Vertex which manufactures and develops medicines to treat Cystic Fibrosis has requested a meeting to discuss their attempts to secure NICE approval. I will be meeting with the company on Wednesday and will continue to press for movement on an issue of huge importance for people with CF, a condition that affects one in every 2,500 babies born across the United Kingdom.”
