Vice Chair of the Assembly's Health Committee Pam Cameron has welcomed the announcement that over one million people in Northern Ireland have received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine.
The DUP MLA said, "This is another significant step as we seek to put Covid-19 firmly into the rear-view mirror. To have a million people in Northern Ireland either partially or fully vaccinated is a truly magnificent achievement, particularly for all those medical professionals who have been working so hard to deliver this life saving vaccine.
The UK's vaccine programme has been amongst the best in the world and Northern Ireland has benefitted hugely from being an integral part of this. Alongside the £5billion of additional funding Northern Ireland has received from the Exchequer during the pandemic it is testament to how important being part of the United Kingdom is in all our lives.
With another vaccination milestone passed the challenge must increasingly turn towards the long-term task of helping businesses recover and rebuilding the economy."
