“The business delegation visited Northern Ireland looking for the opportunities that we offer, and they can follow in the footsteps of many other investments from the United States. The US is the largest source of foreign investment in Northern Ireland and businesses here export goods worth over $1billion each year to the United States.
The visit is a very clear signal that Northern Ireland is open for business, and we always welcome interest from anyone seeking to bring jobs and economic growth to our shores. I want to see a prosperous Northern Ireland where we continue to lead the world in many key sectors.
We want to see a prosperous Northern Ireland, but one too which is based on solid political foundations. This visit sits outside of the work to secure an outcome that respects Northern Ireland’s place within the United Kingdom and its internal market. That work will continue and whilst no-one can predict whether we will achieve the necessary progress, I will continue to put all my efforts towards that goal.”
