Newton welcomes public consultation on Comber Greenway lighting

The DUP’s East Belfast MLA Robin Newton MBE has welcomed the launch of a public consultation process by the Department for Infrastructure on the proposed Comber Greenway lighting project.

Mr Newton said,

"This is good news and another step in the right direction. The consultation will ask the public to consider if lighting should be provided along the Comber Greenway and, if so, whether it should be provided on the urban part of the Greenway between Ravenscroft Avenue - Billy Neill Halt or along the whole length of the Greenway.

This consultation has been a long time in the making. I have spoken passionately about the benefits our Greenways in East Belfast provide. I'm delighted to see the next stage progress. Lighting will be a major step forward. The final scheme should include low level and high-level posts, robust, state-of-the-art lighting that is non-invasive to the neighbouring homes, reactive and energy saving as well as being protective of the Greenway's wildlife.

I would urge as many people as possible to get involved with this consultation before it closes at the end of September.”
