Launching the DUP’s latest Policy paper, “The Next Generations: Inter-generational and Youth Policy in Northern Ireland’s New Century”, Foyle Gary Middleton MLA said:

“As we look forward to celebrating the positives of Northern Ireland in its centenary year, we must also look beyond 2021.
The young and future generations need to be placed at the centre
of our vision for Northern Ireland so we fulfil our true potential and
maximise what we contribute to the United Kingdom. The 2007 Financial
Crisis and now the COVID pandemic had had a disproportionate impact on
young people.
This means we must deal with the legacy for young people and ensure future generations have the best start.
This consultation paper seeks people’s views on the Welsh model of
‘Future Generations’ policy making and what Northern Ireland could
learn from the highly successful Icelandic Youth model.”
