The acts of violence and disorder which have occurred at Lanark Way, Shankill Road and Springfield Road this evening are deeply disturbing and are highly detrimental to local communities.
These criminal acts have included the burning of a double-decker Metro bus after passengers had been intimidated off.
We share in the widespread disgust at these acts of violence which are not supported by the vast majority of local people.
Those who have orchestrated and carried out these acts of violence need to bring them to an immediate end.
We understand the frustration and anger arising from recent political developments. However these do not provide an excuse for acts of violence and instead must be addressed robustly though peaceful and democratic means.
