East Belfast MP Gavin Robinson, who sits on the Centenary Forum said,
"This appears to be another example of Mr Coveney and the Irish Government failing to live up to the standards they lecture others about.
This is a Government putting forward a 'shared island' initiative which talks about mutual respect for all traditions but when it comes tothe Centenary of Northern Ireland none of that rhetoric finds its way into action.
An absence of leadership across nationalism has seen it stand outside everything marking this significant milestone. That has not demonstrated a willingness to reflect and respect all traditions nor to work in the spirit of building a shared future"
