The North Antrim MP said,
“I am honoured to have been asked to stand for the chair of this group and to be unanimously elected to what is a post that I know I will enjoy. As a biker myself I have a keen interest in all things motorcycling. Like most people interested in the sport I am following our local race hero Jonny Rea and am looking forward to the return of the North West 200 that will be a giant spectacle of high octane motor sport.
Biking is so much more than this sport side however. Ensuring bikes keep up with energy and emissions rules, having good laws to support commuters on bikes and ensuring support for retail is all very important to this multi-million-pound industry. As chair I aim to support the sector and encourage its growth amongst young people and women in particular.”
