“Well done to all 25,000 young people opening their results envelopes today. Regardless of the grade, they gave it their best shot and they had the unfortunate circumstance of being the first cohort to sit exams since pre-covid.
It is encouraging that grades compare favourably with 2019, the last exam assessed year, and even show signs of improvement.
I encourage all students to remember that there are lots of pathways open to them. Whilst some will be focused on university as their next step, I would urge everyone to consider their local Further Education College and what apprenticeships are available to them. Each of these pathways can lead to a very successful career.
Finally, today is not the end of a journey but rather just the beginning.”
