“Since the Government paused the Growth Deals for the Causeway Coast and Glens and Mid South West regions, my Party Leader, Gavin Robinson, along with Carla and I, have worked tirelessly with deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly to persuade the Government to recommit to these agreements.
The DUP secured City and Growth Deals in 2017 as part of our Confidence and Supply Agreement with the previous Government. We wanted this investment because it will deliver substantial economic and regeneration benefits to the targeted areas. In Causeway Coast and Glens, tens of millions of Government funding, alongside NI Executive support, will help transform and grow the local economy across the region, helping to level up our regional economy.”
Carla Lockhart added:
“In what is a challenging Budget, the Chancellor’s decision to lift the pause on City and Growth Deals is welcome news.
£126 million will be directed to the Mid South West region, covering Upper Bann, Mid Ulster, and Fermanagh and South Tyrone. Further investment has been committed by the Executive, and this significant funding will help unlock the region’s economic potential by creating jobs, advancing key infrastructure projects, and driving economic growth.
We are pleased that the Government has listened to our campaign, and commend all those who worked to achieve this positive outcome.”
