DUP MLA Diane Dodds alongside Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart met this morning with the Chief Executive of the Southern Trust, Mr Shane Devlin, to discuss a range of issues relating to COVD-19.
The Upper Bann representatives paid tribute to the heroic work of all the healthcare professionals and committed to securing further support for local services.
Commenting after the meeting, the DUP representatives said,
“Our frontline NHS workers have been unwavering in their dedication and professionalism in the face of unprecedented pressures in recent weeks.
Once again, we would like to pay tribute to their continuous sacrifice in our battle against COVID-19.
The pressures being faced in our hospitals are stark, with ICU operating at capacity and over 200 patients currently in hospital with COVID-19 in Craigavon.
This serves as an important reminder as to why we must all follow the public health advice, to protect the NHS and save lives.
There is light at the end of the tunnel and we were delighted to hear of the progress being made with the vaccination process in the Upper Bann area.
We also welcome the commitment around work to allow for hospital visits, particularly for those receiving end of life care.
As a party, we are committed to securing more resources to support the work of the Trust and we look forward to meeting with the Health Minister to discuss these proposals."
