Commenting on the £40 million scheme. Sir Jeffrey said
“As a result of the developing public health situation, the hospitality industry in Northern Ireland has faced continued hardship.
The industry is a vital component of our economy and I have been to determined to ensure that the Executive delivers targeted financial support.
Having worked closely with the First Minister and the industry, I am delighted that a £40 million support package has now been put in place.
The scheme will provide payments of between £10,000 and £20,000 to eligible businesses, with the aim of making payments as soon as possible.
This funding is only possible as a result of continuing support from HM Government, once again showing the strength of our Union.
Our Ministers have ensured the voice of the hospitality sector was heard, protecting businesses, livelihoods and jobs and we will work with the Government at Westminster and the other Ministers in the NI Executive to ensure those sectors also in need of support receive it as soon as possible. I look forward to hearing further announcements in the coming days.”
