Commenting, the local MP said, “The hospitality sector is a major part of our local economy, and particularly within East Londonderry. The jobs and spending brought in by such a development will be very welcome in the area.
The proposed Merrow Hotel & Spa will be a significant addition to the area, particularly with its situation on the start/finish line of the North West 200 course. We are also looking ahead to the return of the Open Championship to Portrush in 2025, and more accommodation locally can mean that more of the financial benefits from bringing such an even to the north coast will stay locally. It is good that a previous objector has not further delayed this welcome development by repeating previous submissions whatever the reasons behind that were.
The company involved have shown a huge commitment to the project and I hope that remaining issues can be resolved to allow work to commence as quickly as possible.”
