DUP Leader and First Minister of Northern Ireland Rt. Hon. Arlene Foster MLA held discussions with the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Rt. Hon. Michael Gove MP in Hillsborough Castle on Friday morning.

Following a private meeting hosted by Northern Ireland Secretary of State Rt. Hon. Brandon Lewis MP, the First Minister joined business leaders in a further round table discussion with Mr Gove.

After the meetings Mrs Foster said,

“This was a constructive round of meetings where we discussed the NI-GB and GB-NI flows of trade and the importance of unfettered access being delivered for our supply chains and local employers.

We welcomed the additional money made available to help ease trade between GB and NI because of the Protocol. There are however, many points which still require clarity to enable business decisions to be made. Indeed, there is also a role for the EU to show some flexibility to resolve any remaining concerns and give certainty.

We also considered how the Government, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Executive, could utilise Northern Ireland’s centenary next year to showcase Northern Ireland across the world.”
